Vision, Mandate & Mission Statement

OUR VISION STATEMENT
To create a rich, social fabric for the communities of the Shuswap through engagement in arts and culture.

MISSION STATEMENT
The Arts Council for the South Shuswap Society is committed to furthering and supporting arts & culture in all its forms in a representative and inclusive manner.

OUR MANDATE
The mandate for the Society shall represent the purposes of the Society as set out in Section 2 of its Constitution and Bylaws:

To encourage participation and excellence in the visual, literary, culinary and performing arts and crafts;

To promote, educate and stimulate interest in the visual, literary, culinary and performing arts and crafts;

To provide when possible, advisory assistance to member groups and artists seeking financial aid and to assist with the writing of grants-in-aid on their behalf;

To act as a hub for information on cultural projects, activities and facilities;

To foster interest and pride in the cultural heritage and natural history of the region;

To collaborate other agencies concerned with cultural activities;

To bring to the attention of civic and provincial authorities, the cultural needs of the region;

To provide facilities and venues, when possible for the use and benefit of performing and visual artists and craft persons;

To do all such other things as are ancillary and incidental to the attainment of the objectives of the Society.
