To create a rich, social fabric for the communities of the Shuswap through engagement in arts and culture.

The Arts Council for the South Shuswap Society is committed to furthering and supporting arts & culture in all its forms in a representative and inclusive manner. 

The mandate for the Society shall represent the purposes of the Society as set out in Section 2 of its Constitution and Bylaws:

  • To encourage participation and excellence in the visual, literary, culinary and performing arts and crafts;


  • To promote, educate and stimulate interest in the visual, literary, culinary and performing arts and crafts;

  • To provide when possible, advisory assistance to member groups and artists seeking financial aid and to assist with the writing of grants-in-aid on their behalf;

  • To act as a hub for information on cultural projects, activities and facilities;

  • To foster interest and pride in the cultural heritage and natural history of the region;

  • To collaborate other agencies concerned with cultural activities;

  • To bring to the attention of civic and provincial authorities, the cultural needs of the region;

  • To provide facilities and venues, when possible for the use and benefit of performing and visual artists and craft persons;


  • To do all such other things as are ancillary and incidental to the attainment of the objectives of the Society.
